A Life Without My SISTER
Sharing Our Story
Introducing…Me
My name is Brandi Lowery. I am 36 years old. I have been married for almost 10 years and am a mom of two. My daughter, Hayden, is 6 years old. She is sassy, incredibly smart and is a competitive dancer. My son, Dax, is 4 and is a tiny wild man.
I work for the county where I live. That is my full time job, but my passion in life is teaching dance. I am a co-owner of a local dance studio, Inspire Performing Arts Center. We are in our 8th season. I teach recreational and competitive dance to students of all ages and I love what I do.
I am what I think you’d consider an extroverted introvert or maybe introverted extrovert? I get those confused. I have crazy curly hair. I struggle with resting bitch face, but I swear I’m friendly. I’m a pasta fanatic and The Vampire Diaries is my comfort show, which I’m not sure what that says about me.
Life Has Changed
Recently, I lost my sister. She was 31 years old, young, married and the mother of two boys under two at the time of her passing.
My sister was my best friend, my person. I have now found myself in uncharted territory, trying to comprehend and discover a life without her. How does that look? Who am I without her? How do we go on?
An Unimaginable Loss
Losing someone is always difficult, no matter your age or their age. Losing someone who you thought would be there for your whole life feels excruciating, but the worst part is looking at her young boys and knowing what she and they are missing out on.
A new journey has begun for me, for her husband, my mom, everyone that knew her. We now have to begin to live without her light. I hope that this blog will help me to organize my thoughts, find closure, and maybe find those who have experienced similar unimaginable losses. If this can help even one person, then I will feel like I’ve done some good.
When my sister was diagnosed, she began to spread her story to help others struggling and spread awareness. I feel it’s important that I try to continue that journey for her.
